Located in the downtown district of St. Augustine, Florida, Christine and Christopher’s Florida wedding was filled with classic neutral details—a white, cream, and light blush color palette, with lots of flowers! But this modern couple brought unique touches to surprise and delight their guests, like high-tech lighting and special effects. Read on for all of the details!
How They Met
The year 2020 brought many unprecedented surprises for the world, but one surprise Christine and Christopher didn’t see coming was finding each other. They connected on Hinge during the pandemic, and they didn’t expect to find true love.
Christine had relocated to Boston from Florida for a new job, and Christopher was in Beantown for his residency at Harvard Medical School. Unfortunately, their first two meetups didn’t go as planned. Christine canceled their first date, and Christopher was called into work on their second date. Luckily, the third time was the charm, and from there, the rest was history.
The Proposal
Christine and Christopher’s engagement took a teensy bit of manipulation on Christopher’s part. He told Christine that he was looking for a bar cart, and showed her an amazing option he found on Craigslist. In order to purchase the cart, he had to drive to southern Massachusetts. Of course, he asked Christine to come along. If you hadn’t guessed already, the whole thing (including the Craigslist post) was a ruse!
Instead of heading to the planned meeting location, Chris took Christine to a beautiful lighthouse and got down on one knee at sunset. Christine was completely surprised…especially when she saw that her mother was there to witness the proposal!
Wedding Planning
After she said “Yes,” the couple decided to embark on the journey of planning a destination wedding, which led them to us at The Treasury on the Plaza.
We knew right away that Christine was going to be amazing to work with. She had her wedding planning binder ready to go, and had a vision in mind for everything from her color palette to the wedding signage.
Christine and Christopher had one goal for their wedding; they wanted to showcase their love for their friends and family by creating the ultimate wedding experience! Everything from the flowing drinks to the immaculate décor made this the party of the century.
The Wedding Day
To start the day off in a chic, yet relaxing way, Christine and her bridal party dressed in silky matching pajamas for hair, makeup, and photos.
Chris and his groomsmen hung out and played darts while getting ready for the big day in The Treasury’s Banker’s Lounge.
The couple shared an intimate first look on The Treasury’s picturesque Foyer Balcony before saying “I do.” Christine chose a chic, glittering, off-the-shoulder wedding gown from Eva Lendel that turned heads and looked fabulous in every photo.
The elegant, timeless wedding ceremony design perfectly complemented the historic architecture of their historic wedding venue. We loved the statement arch that was loaded with beautiful blossoms created by Liz Stewart Floral Design.
Leaving no dry eyes in the ballroom, they exchanged their heartfelt vows to signify the beginning of their journey together as a married couple.
After the ceremony, the guests were directed to enjoy cocktail hour in the Exchange Gallery at The Treasury while the couple took additional photos around St. Augustine with photographer Angelita Esparar.
While Christine and Christopher took photos and guests enjoyed food and cocktails, the vendor team was hard at work reconfiguring The Treasury ballroom into a glamorous reception setup.
The gorgeous floral backdrop from the wedding ceremony was repurposed behind the sweetheart table and accented with a neon sign featuring the couple’s last name. Tables were adorned with cream satin linens, gold candelabras, and beautiful floral arrangements. The rented chairs added the perfect Art Deco touch to the design.
Covered in pressed dried florals, the wedding cake from Crème de la Cocoa rested in front of a vintage vault from the bank that was once housed in the building.
During the wedding party entrances, the bridesmaids and groomsmen coordinated fun dances to get the party started! It’s rare that we see a group of friends with so much enthusiasm and willingness to put themselves out there for everyone else’s enjoyment!
After setting the tone of the party, it was time for the bride and groom to make their grand entrance! Christine and Christopher entered with a huge round of applause surrounded by their wedding party and cold sparklers.
We absolutely love watching our newly married couples enter the Grand Ballroom through the Vault Bar. No two grand entrances are exactly the same, but they are all so much fun for everyone to watch. The Vault entrance also allows couples to take advantage of the most unique aspects of the venue, and is always a fun surprise for guests.
Their first dance was to the song “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Everyone sang along to this 90s classic while the newlyweds danced in the center of the ballroom lit up by spotlights. It was an iconic moment that gave everyone in attendance chills!
@treasuryontheplaza “When everything feels like the movies.” 🎶 Christine and Chris had the perfect movie moment when the whole room sang along to their first dance song, Iris by the @Goo Goo Dolls! #iris #googoodolls #googoodollsiris #firstdance #firstdancesong #weddingfirstdance ♬ original sound – Treasury on the Plaza
To ensure their guests had a phenomenal experience, Christine and Christopher provided fun props for dancing, like light sticks and glasses. They also had a 360-degree photo booth for some extra fun memories.
Christine changed into a sophisticated, yet fun halter dress for some added comfort when the dancing kicked into high gear. We loved the cute pearl sandals that allowed her to dance the night away, while still looking stylish.
When it came time for the night to wind down, the couple took to the floor for a private last dance. Guests cleared the way for them to enjoy one last moment of their special day.
Then, surrounded by their guests (and tons of glowing sparklers) the couple made their grand exit into an awaiting vintage car.
We feel so honored to have shared Christine and Christopher’s day and we wish them all the best for the years to come!
