While lots of people look forward to the fun of a wedding reception, the ceremony is what makes a wedding worth celebrating.
From exchanging your vows to sharing your first kiss as a married couple, your ceremony venue is a very important element of your big day. It’s one of the first things your guests will see, so it’s important to create a scene that will set the tone for the remainder of the event.
Here at The Treasury on the Plaza, we’ve hosted weddings with a variety of themes and color schemes, from winter wonderland affairs to boho-inspired celebrations.
Let’s take a look at 5 incredible examples of wedding ceremony décor that created a beautiful backdrop for our couples to say “I do.”
1. Romantic & Elegant Wedding Ceremony with Twinkle Light Backdrop
Nothing beats a classic color palette of blush, white, and gold for creating an ambiance of romance and elegance.
Adding lush florals is one of the simplest ways to incorporate your color palette into your design, and these arrangements fit the bill perfectly. One of our favorite details is the use of fairy lights in the wedding ceremony draping to draw the eyes towards the happy couple.
“Cristal and Steven wanted to make the Grand Ballroom feel even grander, and with their vision and vendor team, we were able to achieve just that! Blush, white, and gold were the colors of the evening,” says Uncorked Occasions Owner and Lead Planner, Brittany Jones. “Their ceremony also featured a twinkle light backdrop accented with gorgeous florals, and we can’t forget the cold sparks at their first kiss as husband and wife!”
2. Floral Mandap For a Traditional Indian Wedding Ceremony
For Alyssa and Shan’s traditional Indian wedding ceremony, the couple wed under a gorgeously designed wedding canopy, known as a mandap. The four pillars symbolize the four parents who raised the happy couple.
As is traditional with Hindu ceremonies, the mandap was placed on an elevated platform for all of their friends and family to witness. The relatively simple wedding aisle décor keeps the attention front and center.
Having your mandap, chuppah, or arch placed upon a stage is a great option for those hosting a larger ceremony to ensure that everyone is able to witness the two of you exchange your vows.
3. White and Gold Christian Wedding Ceremony with Wooden Cross
The classic gold and white color palette created an ethereal ambiance for Kelsey and Chase’s Treasury on the Plaza wedding. If you’re not hosting your wedding ceremony in a house of worship, your ceremony decorations can help you reflect your beliefs and stay connected to your church.
Kelsey and Chase chose a wooden cross altar decorated with simple florals and candles. This was complemented by an aisle of white petals, golden Chiavari chairs, and white lanterns. St. Johns Illuminations created a clean white backdrop with their extra-tall pipe and drape.
Serena Paape from Blush by Brandee Gaar even let us in on a fun, personal detail the couple incorporated into their wedding ceremony decor:
“Kelsey (bride) loved pennies; anytime she came across one she would pick it up. When Chase proposed, he even pre-placed a penny. As Kelsey came across the penny, he dropped to one knee. Once the ceremony was set, we sprinkled pennies (heads up) down the aisle!”
4. White Winter Wedding Ceremony Décor
Saying “I do” in St. Augustine, Florida gives you the option of sun and sand, but not exactly snow! This is why we love that newlyweds, Briana and Travis, chose a monochromatic white color palette for their December ceremony.
A white ceremony backdrop with bare branches was a stunning backdrop while the two exchanged their vows. But what we loved most was the candles and grand floral arrangements throughout the aisle.
5. Intimate Wedding Ceremony with The Treasury’s Historic Bank Vault Backdrop
The historic bank vault is a popular feature of The Treasury On the Plaza, and we love the way Rachel and Ali incorporated it into their ceremony! Framed by a simple circular gold arch decked with florals, it created the perfect simple and elegant backdrop.
Many of our couples use our vault during their reception (there is a bar behind that door!) but we love to see it used during the ceremony too. After all, how many wedding venues have the option to use a historic bank vault as your backdrop?
