Top Five 2017 Wedding Trends

Top Five 2017 Wedding Trends

Are you tying the knot in 2017, and looking for some new ideas to create the perfect Pinterest-worthy wedding? With the help of The Treasury on the Plaza Event Manager Kim Hutson, we’re sharing our top 5 most buzz-worthy 2017 wedding trends:

1. Unique Entertainment

Want to keep guests in awe all night? Think outside the box when it comes to entertainment. The Treasury recently hosted a New Orleans themed wedding, which included a brass band that led guests from the wedding ceremony to the wedding reception. At another recent wedding, the bride and groom surprised their guests with an aerialist performance during the wedding reception! Are you an art lover? One couple brought in an artist to create caricatures of each of their guests, and another had an artist create a live painting of the entire ballroom throughout the course of the reception.

2. Desserts Galore!

Couples are thinking outside of the box when it comes to providing desserts for their guests! Our brides and grooms have opted for serving everything from miniature desserts to cookies and milk, and even popsicles! Looking for unique beverage options to go with your sweet treats? The Treasury now offers a customizable Cordial Bar with alcohol options that pair perfectly with after dinner coffee, hot chocolate, and dessert.

3. Themed Bars

Want to add an extra kick to your bar service? Try a themed bar! The Treasury on the Plaza just added some amazing new customizable specialty bars to our bar packages, including a Sangria Bar, Mojito Bar, and even a “Welcome To The South” Bar with hard lemonade and iced tea. Don’t be afraid to step outside of the traditional beer, wine, and liquor service. Your guests will be jealous they didn’t think of it first!

4. Unique Room Layouts and Furniture

More and more couples are opting for non-traditional layouts for their weddings. Many of our brides and grooms have incorporated lounge-style seating for guests during their wedding reception. Our modern white sofas have been used in the ballroom to create a relaxing lounge area right off the dance floor. Couples with a more vintage vibe have brought in antique furniture from amazing vendors like Southern Charm Events. We are also seeing more rectangular tables to create family-style dining for guests during the reception.

5. Elaborate Ceremony Draping and Decor

The incredible height of the ceiling in The Grande Ballroom lends itself beautifully to dramatic ceremony draping and decor. Vendors like St. Johns Illuminations have created breathtaking wedding ceremony backdrops using their inventory of extra-long draping, twinkle lights, and chandeliers. A few of our brides and grooms have even incorporated faux and live trees into their ceremony decor to create a more natural, yet equally dramatic, ceremony backdrop.

The Treasury is open and available for in-person tours, weddings, and events!

Our commitment to the health and well-being of all those who walk through our doors continues to be top of mind 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

All staff and vendors are required to wear masks during events, and during any other customer interactions, which include meetings and tours.

Before our venue opens each day we disinfect the venue with a fogger machine.  The fog is used to reduce the number of airborne microorganisms while it applies disinfectant to all surfaces immediately.

We are proud to announce that we have invested in and installed the Air Scrubber by Aerus into our Air Conditioning’s Ventilation Systems.  This system combines high-intensity UVC lighting with a state-of-the-art process that destroys over 99% of airborne and surface contaminants. This is the same technology that was built for NASA and is used on the International Space Station.

The Treasury is following customized guidelines created by Automated Clinical Guidelines to sanitize high-traffic areas every 45 minutes during events.

Sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the building.

Watch the video below to learn more about the steps that we are taking to ensure the health and safety of all of our couples and guests!

Our promise to you is that we continue to evaluate, invest, and implement the newest technologies to ensure the safety of everyone who comes to celebrate with us.
